TIME WARNER CABLE AND HISPANIC FEDERATION ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR CONNECT A MILLION MINDS IN NEW YORK

Alliance to Further Engage NYC Hispanic Youths in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Fields

Release Date: 04/19/2012

New York City, April 19, 2011 – Time Warner Cable and NYC-based Hispanic Federation today announced a partnership as part of Connect a Million Minds (CAMM), which is a Time Warner Cable initiative that encourages young people to become interested in science, technology, engineering and math.  As part of the partnership, Time Warner Cable will bring its after-school CAMM workshop programs to affiliates of the Hispanic Federation. Additionally, the company has agreed to host some of the Federation’s longer-format educational programming on its On Demand channels available to TWC Digital TV customers across the state of New York.

The Hispanic Federation also will help Time Warner Cable identify one of its affiliate organizations to host a future Time Warner Cable Learning Lab, a state-of-the-art technology center providing access to the Internet and educational programs to children and adults across New York City. Time Warner Cable will invest tens of thousands of dollars to equip the Learning Lab with the latest computers and technology equipment, as well as complimentary telecommunications, TV and high-speed Internet services.

Today’s announcement was made at the Hispanic Federation’s 2012 Annual Gala, being held tonight at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel.  Time Warner Cable is a Vice-President’s Circle level sponsor of the gala and a frequent supporter of the Federation’s programs and events.

“Time Warner Cable is proud to partner with the Hispanic Federation to expand our CAMM program and after-school curriculum in communities throughout New York City,” said John Quigley, Regional Vice President of Operations for Time Warner Cable in New York City. “Studies show that more than half of the fastest growing jobs in the future will be in the science or technology field, which is why we initiated CAMM in order to help prepare today’s students. We look forward to working with the Hispanic Federation to bring CAMM into more Hispanic and Latino communities and to help us identify a location for one of our Learning Labs.”

Jose Calderon, President of the Hispanic Federation, said, “One of our organization’s long-standing goals is working with major corporations like Time Warner Cable for the benefit of the Hispanic and Latino population. It’s these types of community-based partnerships that bring important resources to our children and neighborhoods. We thank Time Warner Cable for their support and investment in our community.”
