Richlands, Va. (July 17, 2012) – Time Warner Cable today announced faster downstream and upstream speeds on several tiers of Internet service for customers across the Richlands area.
The top downstream speed for Turbo Internet customers has increased from 10 to 20 Mbps and from
1 to 2 Mbps upstream. The faster speeds of Turbo Internet are designed to meet the demands of today’s broadband home, with multiple devices streaming video and music, gaming online and downloading movies, music and other large files.
These new speeds further position Time Warner Cable as the clear leader in speed compared to DSL Internet providers, with Time Warner Cable Standard Internet customers receiving top speeds as much as 67 percent faster than similarly priced DSL offerings.
“Today’s Internet customers demand faster speeds for their multi-device, online lifestyles,” said CK Allen, general manager, Time Warner Cable, Richlands. “Time Warner Cable’s faster speeds mean an even better Internet experience for Turbo customers, whether you’re downloading music to your laptop, watching live TV with the TWC TV™ app for the Apple iPad™ or streaming video to your WiFi-connected smartphone.”
Speeds for Time Warner Cable Internet customers with Basic Internet have increased from 1.5 to 3 Mbps downstream and 256 Kbps to 1 Mbps upstream and Standard Internet from 5 to 10 Mbps downstream and 384 Kbps to 1 Mbps upstream.
The faster speeds are in effect automatically for all affected customers, with no change in the current price of the service.
For customers who want even faster speeds, Time Warner Cable offers Ultimate Internet, with downstream speeds of up to 50 Mbps — eight times faster than the fastest DSL offering — as well as Extreme Internet, with downstream speeds of up to 30 Mbps.
