Ice Cream Truck Can Be Reserved For Events From June 28 to August 26. Museum Programs Tie In with Company’s Connect A Million Minds® Initiative

Release Date: 06/11/2012

New York City, June 11, 2012 – Time Warner Cable is bringing back a summer favorite this year that will help New Yorkers to stay cool and support museums throughout the city. The Time Warner Cable ice cream truck will make appearances around the city and, for a suggested donation of $1 dollar, will serve up icy cold ice cream treats.

The ice cream truck can also be reserved for New York City-area events being held June 28 through August 26. To request the truck, call (877) SMMR–TWC (877-766-7892).
All of the ice cream truck’s proceeds will be donated to local museums, including the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, Staten Island Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum and the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. FIRST Robotics will be the beneficiary of proceeds gathered from events in Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley, and Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey. The ice cream truck last year raised $15,000 to support science programs at local museums.

“Time Warner Cable’s ice cream truck campaign is another way we continue to raise awareness about our Connect A Million Minds program,” said John Quigley, Time Warner Cable’s Regional Vice President of Operations in New York City. “Not only can kids enjoy a summer time sweet treat but they’ll be able to continue experiencing the terrific programs at the local museums that benefit from this cause.”

The ice cream truck will serve cones and cups with chocolate, vanilla or swirl ice cream flavors, along with a choice of chocolate or rainbow sprinkles.
The beneficiaries provide programs for young people that connect to math and science. It ties into the company’s philanthropic initiative, Connect a Million Minds® which is designed to inspire the next generation of problem solvers by connecting young people to the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math.

Time Warner Cable’s New York City footprint serves over 1.3 million customers in four New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and western Brooklyn), Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley (Orange, Sullivan, Ulster Counties and parts of Dutchess, Greene and Delaware Counties), and Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey.
