Time Warner Cable Introduces “Golf’s Ultimate Signature Holes” Show

Release Date: 02/04/2009

Palm Desert, California, February 4, 2009 – Time Warner Cable announces the launch of Golf’s Ultimate Signature Holes, a new TV show featuring many of the local area’s golf courses.  The program follows PGA golf professionals who play the signature hole and includes interviews with the course designers and architects.  In the first episode Arnold Palmer talks about his goals in designing the Classic Club, Clive Clark talks with Jack Whitaker about his creative vision for Eagle Falls Golf Course; and the newly appointed U.S. Ryder Cup Team Captain, Corey Pavin provides his insight about how to play “Huulilash,” the par 4 signature hole located at the new Journey at Pechanga golf course in Temecula.

The program, which is hosted by PGA professionals Brad Stormon and Tim Hurja, airs Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday at 7:00 AM, Sunday at 12-noon, and Monday at 7:00 PM on Desert Cities TV Channel 111.  It can also be viewed 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, on Desert Cities On-Demand Channel 110.

“Golf’s Ultimate Signature Holes provides a terrific opportunity for viewers to experience the beauty and character of the signature holes and to hear about the thought that went into their creation from the architects themselves,” according to Rich Oliphant, II, executive producer and director of the program.

“We are very pleased to have such a strong line-up in the first episode that includes Cory Pavin, former U.S. Open Champion, a three-time member of the Ryder Cup team and a 15-time winner on the PGA Tour,” said Brad Stormon.  On the sixth hole at Journey at Pechanga, Brad Stormon and Corey Pavin both hit 320-yard drives from the 293-foot elevated tee, over a deep natural baranka, to end up within a few inches of each other.  In the show, Corey comments: “Well it’s a chipping contest now. I can’t believe these drives ended up so close together… that’s amazing!”

Clive Clark, the former Great Britain & Ireland Ryder Cup team member talks about his priority to design a course that’s fun to play. Willie Maples, Director of Golf at Eagle Falls Golf Course said: “number 11 is one of Clive Clark’s favorite holes.”  Clark says: “The 269-yard par 4 is reachable in two for the long-hitters.”  In fact, Rob Mihelic, Head Golf Professional and Brad Stormon do exactly that in the segment; while carrying the lake, a 90-yard waste bunker, and a stacked-stone-wall to reach the green!

Arnold Palmer, the Classic Club course architect discusses his favorite holes, design philosophy and challenges in designing the course. “Our major effort here was to make the golf course interesting for the high-handicapper, who could come out here and enjoy playing golf, the scenery and architecture that goes into this golf course; but also make it very challenging for the professionals and we think we’ve done that,” said Palmer.  Brady Wilson, Head Professional shows us the way on the par 4 number 16, while Greg Rubino, General Manager, tells us more the course and about the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation’s involvement.
