Kansas City (April 6, 2012) – Time Warner Cable Kansas City is proud to announce the company has received the prestigious “Flag of Freedom” award. The award, which is part of Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s “Show-Me Heroes” initiative, is recognition of Time Warner Cable Kansas City’s commitment to hiring military Veterans.
The award presentation took place earlier this week at the 2012 KC Veterans Career Fair, with Lieutenant Colonel Alan Rohlfing making the presentation to Time Warner Cable’s local Direct Sales Manager Kent Hoffman.
“Time Warner Cable has tremendous respect and appreciation for the United States military, and we feel like making a commitment to hire Veterans is the right thing to do,” said Scott Miller, Time Warner Cable’s area vice president of operations.
"Missouri's military veterans have served honorably, are well trained and make excellent employees, and I am proud of Time Warner Cable for making the hiring of Veterans a priority," said Gov. Nixon. “’Show-Me Heroes’ is a great way to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed services and help our Veterans transition back to civilian life when they return home."
The “Show-Me Heroes” program was established in January 2010 and is coordinated by the Missouri National Guard and Missouri Workforce Development. Since its inception, more than 1,700 employers have taken the pledge and more than 1,300 Veterans have been hired. The "Flag of Freedom" award is given in recognition of an organization’s efforts in reaching out to and employing Veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve.
