TIME WARNER CABLE ‘KICKS OFF’ HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ON CAROLINA ON DEMAND
Carolina On Demand to feature 27 ‘Games of the Week’ across North Carolina

Charlotte, NC (August 18, 2010) –Are you ready for some football?  Time Warner Cable’s Game of the Week is set to carry more games and the best high school football matchups from across the state.  Along with the great rivalries in Charlotte, Raleigh and Fayetteville, this year, the coverage is expanding to include schools in the Triad and Wilmington.

“Providing local programming to our customers is at the heart of what we do,” says Alan Mason, vice president and general manger, News 14 Carolina.  “Time Warner Cable is the home of the NC High School Athletic Association state championships.  The Game of the Week will showcase teams and talented athletes statewide as they battle for a chance to get into the playoffs and contend for the state title.”

The games will be recorded live and available for playback beginning on the Sunday following each game on Carolina On Demand, Channel 199 or 1047.   Carolina On Demand allows you to watch the games free of charge at a time that is convenient for you.

In order to insure the best matchups, a decision on which games to carry will be made about a week in advance.  The Game of the Week will be announced on Monday nights on News 14 Carolina’s Sports Night, North Carolina’s only half-hour sports show live every night at 10pm.  A total of 27 games from the season will be featured. Also new this year, Time Warner Cable will carry games from both public and independent schools.

“The most popular programs on Carolina on Demand involve high school sports.  So, we’re pleased to offer more high school football games.  Our viewers have made it clear that they enjoy watching the games at their convenience,” added Mason.

The first three games are set:

Charlotte:  August 20th, Mallard Creek @ Independence

Durham:    August 27th, Southern Durham @ Middle Creek

Wilmington/Fayetteville:  September 3rd, Hoggard @ Jack Britt

The 2010 Game of the Week season is sponsored by Discount Tire, Reeds Jewelers and the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
