Time Warner Cable was the presenting sponsor of the season finale for La Liga Hispano-Americano Soccer Club on Saturday, August 8th at Delano-Hitch Recreational Club Soccer Stadium in Newburgh NY.  To mark Time Warner Cable’s premiere sponsorship of this local Hispanic soccer tournament, the championship game was officially called Copa Time Warner Cable.

Last year’s defending La Liga champions, Zaragoza, lost their hopes of defending their crown in a season-end stunning loss to The Revolution. As a result of this upset, The Revolution played America  before a crowd of nearly one-thousand who attended the deciding final match.  Among those in attendance was Newburgh Deputy Mayor, the Hon. Regina Angelo.  Final score of (0-0) placed both teams into sudden death shootout with the Revolution as the reigning 2009 champion.

“We’re proud to connect with the Hispanic community through this celebrated annual soccer tournament,” said Alessandra Otero-Reiss, Director of Multicultural Marketing for Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region.  “As first time sponsors of La Liga Hispano-Americano, it’s our pleasure to present COPA Time Warner Cable this year and assist with making it a successful event.”

On Saturday, Time Warner Cable hosted onsite activities for kids including an interactive soccer game and a special drawing where several winners received an official Major League Soccer soccer ball.  Entrants also received an El Paquetazo cinch bag compliments of Time Warner Cable.

Time Warner Cable recently introduced El Paquetazo, a programming package which delivers 140 channels in both Spanish and English, including many in HD and includes 39 networks in that especially appeal to Hispanic viewers, for around $35 a month.  When combined with Time Warner Cable’s Digital Phone service, which includes unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, the price is just $49.95 per month.

La Liga president, Armando Aguilar said “We are pleased that Time Warner Cable joined us as presenting sponsor.  We appreciate their support and their commitment to our community.”  Aguilar continued, “La Liga is committed to bring people together to play soccer. It gives them greater meaning to their lives.  I think that’s what Time Warner Cable is committed to as well.”
