Charlotte, NC (August 16, 2010) – Time Warner Cable Digital Cable customers no longer have to call customer service to make subscription changes to their account. Impulse Ordering, a new digital selection tool, empowers residential customers to use their digital remote control to instantaneously upgrade and add new products and premium services to their digital subscriptions. Customers can order premium services like HBO or Cinemax, digital programming tiers such as Nuestra Tele and subscription video on demand services like Disney Channel On Demand.
“As we continue to give customers control in ways that are simple and easy, this new, convenient, feature empowers them to make instant subscription upgrades without having to dial and talk with a customer service representative,” says Mike Munley, president, residential services, Time Warner Cable East.
Much like Time Warner Cable On Demand Services, the Impulse Ordering tool walks customers through easy-to-use on-screen selections. Customers can execute an order by pressing SELECT on their digital remotes. Once an order is complete, an on-screen status bar provides order status and confirmation. When the order is confirmed on two confirmation screens, the order is recorded directly into Time Warner Cable’s billing system. Then seconds later, viewers can access a new premium channel or service. The monthly charge will be prorated from the date of ordering to register on customers’ next bill.
For secure access, customers can follow Parental Control steps to block a channel or series of channels offering impulse ordering capabilities. Customers may also change the purchase PIN number to block unwanted orders. To cancel an upgrade ordered via Impulse Ordering, customers will need to call customer service.
