Time Warner Cable Metro Sports Announces Broadcasting Partnership with William Jewell Athletics

Release Date: 08/02/2012

Kansas City (August 2, 2012) – Another year of college athletics is quickly approaching and Time Warner Cable Metro Sports is set to add more exciting collegiate action to their already extensive local coverage.

Metro Sports today announced a programming partnership with William Jewell College, and as part of the partnership, many of William Jewell’s home athletics events will be shown on Metro Sports and Metro Sports 2, including football, volleyball, men’s/women’s soccer, men’s/women’s basketball, softball and baseball games.

Each William Jewell game will be shown on a tape-delayed basis 24-48 hours after the event, and the channel the games will be aired on (Metro Sports or Metro Sports 2) will depend on Metro Sports’ weekly programming schedule.

“We are excited to add coverage of William Jewell’s strong athletic programs in their first full year of Division II,” said Metro Sports General Manager Chris Huwe. “We pride ourselves on our great local sports coverage, and having Cardinals athletics on Metro Sports is a perfect fit for us.”

“The partnership with Metro Sports is a fabulous opportunity for Cardinal athletics,” said Jewell Director of Athletics Darlene Bailey. “To have events broadcast in the Kansas City area is tremendous exposure for William Jewell College from an athletic and academic standpoint.  We are very excited about NCAA competition and the opportunities it provides for students, alumni and friends of the College.”

Doing the play by play for all of the action on Metro Sports/Metro Sports 2 will be William Jewell’s own Rick Cole, the school’s Director of Sports Broadcasting and Community Engagement. The color analysts will vary by sport.
In addition to the numerous game broadcasts, William Jewell football fans can tune in every week to watch “Inside the Cardinal Playbook” with head football coach Jerod Kruse on Metro Sports/Metro Sports 2.

Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30 and 310 and in HD on 1310), Comcast (channel 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37). Metro Sports 2 is available on Time Warner Cable channel 311.
