Release Date: 01/24/2012

Kansas City (January 24, 2012) – Over the past 15 years, Time Warner Cable Metro Sports has become known for covering local sports like no one else. From boys and girls high school sports to the Chiefs, Royals and Sporting KC, Metro Sports has prided itself on covering all aspects of the Kansas City area sports scene.

The network is now set to dedicate a weekly program exclusively to women’s sports, which will be one of the first shows of its kind in the United States.

This Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Metro Sports will officially launch “Our Season,” a weekly half-hour roundtable discussion program focusing on stories and issues affecting the world of women’s athletics. This week’s show will focus on the topic of women’s professional soccer in the United States, including the upstart WPS league, as well as track and field.

“Metro Sports has always covered women’s sports, and ‘Our Season’ will take that coverage to a whole new level,” said Chris Huwe, TWC Metro Sports general manager. “There are fascinating and largely under-reported stories taking place in the world of women’s sports today and we know this show will appeal to many people.”

“Our Season” joins Metro Sports’ already impressive local programming lineup, which is anchored by a live 30-minute “Metro Sports Zone” nightly at 10 p.m. featuring all the biggest Kansas City area sports news of the day.

The station’s other weekly programs include “Red Zone” (Chiefs talk), “Blue Zone” (Royals talk), “Varsity KC” (area high school sports news), “College Gametime” (Big 12/area college discussion), Braggin’ Rights (Emmy Award-winning sports trivia show), “Fantasy Huddle” (internationally syndicated fantasy football show) and “Metro Pro Wrestling” (local professional wrestling).
