KANSAS CITY (October 26, 2011) – The 2011-2012 college basketball season is about to tip off, and Mizzou fans in the Kansas City area will be able to catch 14 upcoming Tigers hoops games exclusively on Time Warner Cable Metro Sports.
The Metro Sports Mizzou broadcast schedule features 11 men’s home basketball games and three women’s home basketball games. Most of these broadcasts will be televised in high definition, including the first broadcast on Metro Sports on Wednesday, Nov. 2 when the Tigers host Truman State at 7 p.m. in exhibition play.
Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30, 310 and 1310-HD), Comcast (channel 44 and 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37).
“Kansas City is a great college basketball town, and we know that Mizzou has a big following locally,” said Chris Huwe, TWC Metro Sports general manager. “Live sporting events are very popular with our viewers, and we are proud that we are able to continue to provide Time Warner Cable customers with exclusive programming like this.”
In addition to the 14 Tigers basketball games, Metro Sports will continue to be the exclusive provider for the weekly “Mizzou Football Highlight Show” and “This Week in Mizzou Football” shows in the Kansas City area throughout the fall.
The Mizzou basketball programming compliments Metro Sports’ already impressive list of college-related programming, which currently includes Big 12 weekly football coach’s shows (Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State), Big 12 volleyball and “College Gametime,” a 30-minute weekly show focused on Big 12 and local college sports that airs Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. Metro Sports also recently broadcast two major University of Kansas basketball events live – the “Legends of the Phog” reunion game and the yearly “Late Night in the Phog” event.
