Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division Winner of Beacon Award

National organization cites “Leveraging Summer Festivals” entry as among nation’s best

Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division President Rhonda Fraas has announced that the Division is a winner in the 2007 Beacon Awards competition.  Sponsored by the Association for Cable Communicators (ACC), formerly known as the Cable Television Public Affairs Association, the national Beacon Awards competition recognizes excellence in public affairs throughout the cable industry.

“Time Warner Cable sponsors a variety of community events and by supporting these events, we support activities important to the communities we serve,” said Fraas.  Hilliard resident Elizabeth Boyuk, manager of community partnerships, submitted the winning entry Leveraging Summer Festivals.  According to Boyuk, “Public affairs representatives coordinated efforts with marketing and sales representatives to promote Time Warner Cable’s products, including digital cable, high-speed Internet and residential telephone, and the cable industry’s Smart TV Viewing initiative.  The collaborative effort worked to develop strategies that educate customers about these products and services, while maintaining an active presence at the events.”

From the hundreds of entries received in this year’s Beacon Award competition, 83 winners were chosen by cable public affairs professionals in an extensive two-phase judging process.  The overwhelming number of entries represents company initiatives implemented over the past year, in areas such as community relations, education and public service announcements.

The winners were announced at a gala awards ceremony March 13 during the annual ACC three-day conference held in Washington, D.C.

ACC Executive Director Steve Jones shared, “Winner status is truly an outstanding achievement.  The requirements to become a winner are more demanding than ever before.  These award winning projects reflect the cable industry’s strong commitment to public affairs, technological advances, and educational initiatives to communities across the country.”
