September 15, 2011 – Kansas City, MO - This Mexican Independence Day weekend, the best and the brightest stars will fight on one action-packed night, from two spectacular sites. Time Warner Cable customers will have the opportunity to watch “Star Power/Poder Estelar” where Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz battle it out for the World Welterweight Championship. Mayweather, described as boxing’s biggest star and Ortiz, described as boxing’s newest star, will compete live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday at 8 p.m. CT.
Ortiz, a native of Kansas, enters the fight as the current WBC World Welterweight Champion, but is considered the underdog to Mayweather, who is undefeated as a professional.
In addition to the Mayweather/Ortiz fight, the Pay-Per-View will also feature a Super Lightweight Championship bout between Erik Morales vs. Lucas Matthysse, which will also take place with the main event in Las Vegas. The Pay-Per-View will also feature a Super Welterweight Championship fight between Canelo Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez, which will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’s Staples Center.
