Release Date: 09/16/2011

Fayetteville, NC (September 15, 2011) – As part of a $1.5 million network upgrade, Time Warner Cable Road Runner customers in the Fayetteville, Southern Pines and Lumberton areas will receive faster download and upload speeds for their existing Broadband and Turbo Internet service at no additional cost.  The new speeds are as follows:

Product New Speed Old Speed
Road Runner® Turbo with PowerBoost® 15 Mbps/1Mbps 10 Mbps/512 Kbps
Road Runner® Broadband with PowerBoost® 10 Mbps/1 Mbps 7 Mbps/384 Kbps

Existing residential customers can access the new higher speeds immediately by rebooting their cable modem, which is easily accomplished by leaving it unplugged from electric power for about one minute. New customers will receive the faster speeds as they are connected to service.

Time Warner Cable also announces the launch of Wideband Internet service for residential and business customers in about 70 percent of the Fayetteville and Fort Bragg area, including Spring Lake.  This next-generation Internet service offers blazing-fast downloads of up to 50 Mbps, more than three times faster than any current offering, with upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

“We are substantially increasing our download speeds and essentially doubling upload speeds for our Road Runner Broadband and Turbo customers.  This upgrade is a key part of our commitment to deliver enhanced value to our customers and reflects the growing consumer appetite for faster speeds and demanding online applications,” said Christine Whitaker, area vice president of operations, Time Warner Cable Eastern North Carolina. “Time Warner Cable Wideband Internet demonstrates the robust capacity and adaptability of our network.  The extreme speeds of Wideband Internet are perfect for businesses, the tech-savvy user and multimedia, multi-device families who simply want the fastest speeds available.”

Time Warner Cable Wideband Internet will be available throughout Fayetteville, Lumberton and Southern Pines by early 2012.
