- 100% of proceeds collected during the company’s summer campaign donated to charity
New York, NY, October 26, 2010 – Time Warner Cable’s East Region/NYC area has been conducting a unique summer campaign to help raise money for local charities for the past several years. Each summer, Time Warner Cable’s ice cream truck visits many outdoor events to serve up ice cream for the suggested donation of $1 with 100% of the proceeds donated to local museums. The campaign ran from July 1 through August 23 and was once again a tremendous success raising over $14,500. Beneficiaries included Brooklyn’s Children’s Museum, Children’s Museum of Manhattan, New York Hall of Science in Queens and Staten Island Children’s Museum.
“Our summer campaign provides us with a platform to connect with our local community and join our neighbors in supporting some great local educational institutions,” said Harriet Novet, Regional Vice President, Public Affairs, Time Warner Cable’s East Region/NYC. “We’re happy to partner with organizations that provide programs for young people that connect them to math and science which is the focal point of Time Warner Cable’s Connect A Million Minds® philanthropic initiative,” added Novet.
“We are thrilled that Time Warner Cable has recognized the importance of the work we do at the Museum through generous donations from their Ice Cream Truck Campaign. Time Warner Cable’s unique initiative enables us to better serve our community while providing them with delicious summer treats. It’s a perfect combination, thank you!” said Georgina Ngozi, President, Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
“There is no better way for a family to spend a summer day or evening than enjoying some learning at Children’s Museum of Manhattan and some ice cream courtesy of Time Warner Cable. The $1 ice cream has been a big hit with our visitors, who now look forward to it every summer,” said Andrew Ackerman, Executive Director, Children’s Museum of Manhattan.
“New York Hall of Science is most appreciative of Time Warner Cable's support, and we are happy to receive funding through the Ice Cream Truck initiative. For many years, New York Hall of Science and Time Warner Cable have pursued a shared objective to increase participation in science, technology, engineering, and math. Imaginative projects like this are just one example of the creative ways we are able to work together towards that common goal,” said Dan Wempa, Vice President of External Affairs, New York Hall of Science.
“The museum tries to offer as many authentic, hands-on experiences as we can and the donation from the Time Warner Cable Ice Cream truck program helps us support the museum’s small living collection, which includes the Sun Conures Kimba and Soleil, stars of the daily Animal Time program, among others,” said Dina Rosenthal, Executive Director, Staten Island Children’s Museum.
