Time Warner Cable ‘Experience’ Store Opens at the Skyview Mall in Flushing, Queens

New Store Continues TWC’s Commitments to Improve the Customer Experience and Diversity & Inclusion

New York City (August 14, 2015) - Time Warner Cable (TWC) today held a grand opening for a new experience store located at the Skyview Mall in Flushing, Queens. The new store features an innovative retail concept aimed at providing customers with exceptional customer service as well as providing an enhanced, hands-on experience to learn about and enjoy TWC’s suite of TV, Internet and Home Phone services.

In recognition of the great diversity found in Flushing and surrounding areas, TWC has hired store personnel who are multilingual. TWC is actively recruiting New Yorkers who are fluent in Arabic, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, Korean or Spanish for additional positions available at the store and at its Customer Care facility in Flushing, among other job opportunities.

“Our goal is for customers to find our new Flushing store a relaxed, engaging place to experience Time Warner Cable’s services, reflective of the rich diversity of the area,” said John Quigley, NYC regional vice president of operations, Time Warner Cable. “By partnering with the Chinese-American Planning Council and Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, we can more effectively recruit bilingual staff who can better serve the diverse needs of local residents.”

The store’s grand opening was highlighted by several customer appreciation activities. Customers were invited to visit the new store, enjoy complimentary refreshments, receive gifts and giveaway items, and join in a raffle for a chance to win additional prizes such as two tickets to the Time Warner Cable suites at the 2015 US Open Tennis Championships being held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. TWC is an Official Sponsor and the Official WiFi Service Provider of the US Open.

“The new store enables our employees to interact with customers and encourage them to test, shop and purchase products and services with a hands-on, interactive experience,” said Blaine Altaffer, Senior Vice President of Sales for Time Warner Cable. Linda Lee, Executive Director of Korean Community Services, Inc. said "We are excited to see that Time Warner Cable (TWC) is opening a retail store in Flushing so that more community members can access their services and products. As a recent recipient of TWC's Learning Lab funding, we appreciate their partnership and willingness to work in various communities that may have language and other barriers to accessing services. Through the Learning Lab, we are able to provide job training classes, ESL classes and other educational programs to our clients who are low-income and trying to become self-sufficient. We are excited to support their new retail store where our community members will be able to receive assistance in-language and expand their access to mainstream services through TWC that will benefit our community members."

The new store complements several initiatives to improve customer service for Time Warner Cable customers. TWC Maxx has transformed the TV and Internet service experience by bringing Internet speeds up to six times faster than before, an advanced TV experience featuring Enhanced DVR with more storage and recording capabilities, video improvements including more On Demand choices and an all-digital lineup, plus a rock-solid network to ensure optimum performance and reliability. TWC also offers industry-leading one-hour appointment windows, as well as same day appointments.

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
