Visitors to Los Angeles will have access to more than 14,000 TWC WiFi® Hotspots free of charge when they visit Southern California next week. Time Warner Cable, in partnership with Time Warner Cable Business Class, is opening up access to the hotspots to National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) Cable Show visitors and non-customers April 26 through May 4, 2014.
All Business Services Internet customers and Time Warner Cable Internet customers with Standard Internet or above currently have free access to Time Warner Cable’s network of more than 14,000 TWC WiFi® Hotspots in Southern California and more than 200,000 TWC WiFi and Cable WiFi® Hotspots in cities across the country. NCTA members, guests attending The Cable Show and non-Time Warner Cable customers will now have access to TWC WiFi Hotspots in Los Angeles April 26 – May 4, 2014, by following these steps when in range:
• Select the TWCWiFi network
• Open your browser
• Accept the Terms of Service and connect
Unlimited free access to the LA hotspots for non-customers and visitors will expire May 4, 2014. The hotspots are easy to locate by using the free Time Warner Cable WiFi Finder app available through the Google Play or iTunes app stores, or through the WiFi coverage map at twc.com/wificoverage. TWC WiFi Hotspots can be found in popular areas of Southern California including:
• Downtown LA
• Beverly Hills
• Santa Monica
• Venice Beach
• Manhattan Beach
• Orange County
Time Warner Cable recently installed free TWC WiFi at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and added new hotspots in the Coachella Valley.
Nearly all of TWC’s 14,000 LA WiFi Hotspots also provide access to TWC’s recently launched secure WiFi network, TWCWiFi-Passpoint. This network is available only to TWC customers with Standard Internet or above or Business Class Internet. The new national network uses powerful encryption technology to ensure customers get the same level of protection on TWC’s public WiFi network that they receive with their in-home TWC WiFi connection. TWC customers can select the new TWCWiFi-Passpoint SSID or continue to access the TWC WiFi SSID. After connecting to TWCWiFi-Passpoint the first time, customers will then seamlessly connect to the new preferred secure network whenever in broadcast range.
