Time Warner Cable and The Weather Channel, the world’s leading weather authority, will host an event on October 19, 2013 at the EdVenture Children’s Museum from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m.to kick off “Connect with Weather,” a new co-branded campaign that educates families and communities about the importance of weather preparedness.
“Connect with Weather” emphasizes the dedication of Time Warner Cable and The Weather Channel to keep the public safe and informed before, during and after severe weather,” said Charlene Keys, Time Warner Cable area vice president of operations, South Carolina. “Holding this event at the EdVenture Children’s Museum is the perfect way to engage families in a fun and interactive way.”
“Connect with Weather” combines best-in-class weather and science information from The Weather Channel with resources from some of the nation’s most trusted non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, giving Time Warner Cable customers access to life-saving information. This event will teach families how to create and put into practice their own emergency plan. On-camera meteorologist Paul Goodloe from The Weather Channel will be in attendance to provide special expertise and insight on the importance of planning.
Encouraging Time Warner Cable subscribers to plan ahead to ensure the safety of family and friends when severe weather strikes, event activities include:
·Emergency kit demos – A local American Red Cross representative will demonstrate and discuss how to put together a family emergency plan and kit.
·Meteorologist Meet and Greet – Attendees can meet, ask questions, and take photos with The Weather Channel on-camera meteorologist Paul Goodloe.
·Preparing for Pets – Volunteers from the American Humane Association will be on hand to talk about special considerations for pet safety and preparedness.
·Raffles & Giveaways – Attendees will be entered into a raffle to win various prizes throughout the event and will receive their own severe weather family guide.
