What is a cache?:

A computer’s cache temporarily stores information about web pages on your hard drive. The first time your computer visits a page, your web browser retrieves the page from the network. When you visit that page again, your browser checks to see if the page is available in a cache to load faster. You can change your cache security settings, or even turn off cache in your browser.
