Your phone modem (known as an eMTA) is powered by plugging it into an electrical wall outlet. If you wish, you can purchase a backup battery after Phone service is installed. Please visit our Phone Power Backup page for additional information, including tips on how best to prepare for an electrical outage.
To verify that the backup battery you purchased is working, check the indicator light on the front of your modem. If it's on, then your battery is charged and operating properly.
To test your battery, unplug the modem power cord from the wall and verify that you have a dial tone. If you do, your battery is working.
