Overview

Program your Time Warner Cable remote to control your TV using the instructions below. There are two common ways to program your TWC remote to work with your TV and other devices, such as your DVD, DVR, etc.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

Program your remote by displaying the code that works with your TV. This option scans through all of the codes in the remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code.

Manual Method

Program your remote by looking up and then entering a code that corresponds with your TV brand.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

The Auto-Search Method scans through all of the codes in the TWC remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On your remote, press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Point the remote control at the TV and enter 9 9 1. The LED will blink twice.
  4. Press the CH+ button until the TV turns off.
  5. Press SET to lock in the code. The LED will blink twice.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Manual method.

Manual Method

You can set up the TWC remote control by entering a code that corresponds with your device’s brand. Using the filters below, select a device and a corresponding brand to see applicable codes.
If your brand is not listed, please open the PDF version of the manual to find your code then follow the instructions below.

Find your device codes using the dropdown options above, then follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On your remote, press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Point the remote at your device and enter a code assigned to your brand. If done correctly and with a valid code, the LED will blink twice.
    Note: When an invalid code is entered, the LED will display one long blink and exit programming. To continue, repeat steps 2-3 with a valid code.
  4. Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn off. If it doesn’t, repeat steps 2-4 trying each code for your brand until it does.

Note:If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Auto-Search method.

Volume Control

Once your TWC remote control has been programmed to turn your TV on and off, it is automatically set up to control your TV’s volume.

If you would like to control volume through the Digital Adapter, use the following steps:

  1. On your remote, press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice.
  2. Enter 9 9 3. The LED will blink twice.
  3. Press 1. The LED will blink four times.

To revert volume control back to your TV, use the following steps:

  1. On your remote, press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice.
  2. Enter 9 9 3. The LED will blink twice.
  3. Press 2. The LED will blink twice.

 

Commonly Used Buttons

Understanding the buttons on your Digital Adapter remote is essential to unlocking its full potential.
 
DTA POWER turns the Digital Adapter on or off.
 
TV POWER turns your television on or off.
 
MENU opens the Digital Adapter's menu, allowing you to access language, settings and closed captioning options.
 
INFO displays information about the program you are watching or a selected program in the Guide.
 
LAST returns the Digital Adapter to the channel you were viewing previously.
 
PROG is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.
 
SELECT, OK or ENTER selects a highlighted program or menu item.
 
GUIDE displays the program guide on your TV screen.
 
SETUP is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.

Buttons may vary by remote brand and model. Some Digital Adapter remote buttons might not have any functionality.
 

Batteries

If your TWC remote begins to malfunction, your batteries might need to be replaced.

Installing/Replacing
  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote and take out the old batteries.
  2. Carefully install two new AA batteries as shown in the illustration inside the battery cover.
  3. Replace the battery cover.

Note: When batteries need replaced, the remote will stop operating. Replace old batteries within 15 minutes and it will be restored to its full functionality.

Replace Your Remote

If you have tried replacing your batteries and you are still having issues with your TWC remote control, it may be time to trade it in. Bring your old remote with you to a local TWC Store and trade it for a newer model or contact us for a replacement.
