Overview

Program your Time Warner Cable remote to control your TV using the instructions below. There are three common ways to program your TWC remote to work with your TV and other devices, such as your DVD, DVR, etc.
Auto-Search Method (recommended)

Program your remote by displaying the code that works with your TV. This option scans through all of the codes in the remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code.

Quick Set-up Method

Program your remote by using a one-digit code associated with popular brands.

Manual Method

Program your remote by looking up and then entering a code that corresponds with your TV brand.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

The Auto-Search Method scans through all of the codes in the TWC remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code. Follow these steps:

Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate.

On your remote, press the corresponding device button [TV or DTA] and the OK button simultaneously for three seconds. The POWER LED will turn on for 20 seconds to indicate the remote is ready to be programmed.

Point the remote control at the device and press the CH+ or CH- button. The remote will emit power on/off code signals. Continue to press the CH+ or CH- button until your device turns off.

Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn back on.

Press the corresponding device button to store the code. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm the code has been stored.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Quick Set-Up or Manual methods.

Quick Set-Up Method

The Quick Set-Up Method enables programming your TWC remote by using a one-digit code associated with popular brands.
First, find your TV brand and its corresponding one-digit code, then follow the steps below.

Follow these steps:

Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate.

Point the remote control at the device. Press and hold the corresponding device button [TV or DTA] until the POWER LED blinks once and stays on.

While continuing to hold the device button, press the Quick number key assigned to your brand.

Release both the device button and the Quick Number button you used to save the code. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm the code is stored.

Press the power button. If your device turns off, programming for that device is complete.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Auto-Search or Manual methods.

Manual Method

You can set up the TWC remote control by entering a code that corresponds with your device’s brand. Using the filters below, select a device and a corresponding brand to see applicable codes.
If your brand is not listed, please open the PDF version of the manual to find your code then follow the instructions below.

Find your device codes using the dropdown options above, then follow these steps:
  1. Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate. 
  2. On your remote, press the corresponding device button [such as TV, DVD, CBL] and the OK/SEL buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The device LED will light indicating that it is ready to be programmed
    Note: The LED will remain on for 30 seconds and the next step must be completed while it is on. 
  3. Point the remote at your device and enter a number assigned to your brand. If there is more than one code for your brand, try one code at a time until your device turns off. Note: Pause one second between entering each number of the code. 
  4. Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn back on. If it does, try changing the channel to verify programming was successful. 
  5. Press the device button to store the code. The device LED will blink twice to confirm the code has been stored.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Quick Set-Up or Auto-Search methods.

Volume Control

Once your TWC remote control has been programmed to turn your TV on and off, it is automatically set up to control your TV’s volume.

If you want control TV volume in DTA mode, use the following steps:

On your remote, press the DTA and the OK buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The DTA LED will turn on for twenty seconds.

Press the VOL+ button. The device LED will blink.

Press the TV button. The device LED will blink twice to confirm the programming

Note: To restore the DTA volume control in DTA mode, repeat the above steps but press DTA in step 3.

 

Commonly Used Buttons

Understanding the buttons on your Digital Adapter remote is essential to unlocking its full potential.
 
DTA POWER turns the Digital Adapter on or off.
 
TV POWER turns your television on or off.
 
MENU opens the Digital Adapter's menu, allowing you to access language, settings and closed captioning options.
 
INFO displays information about the program you are watching or a selected program in the Guide.
 
LAST returns the Digital Adapter to the channel you were viewing previously.
 
PROG is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.
 
SELECT, OK or ENTER selects a highlighted program or menu item.
 
GUIDE displays the program guide on your TV screen.
 
SETUP is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.

Buttons may vary by remote brand and model. Some Digital Adapter remote buttons might not have any functionality.
 

Batteries

If your TWC remote begins to malfunction, your batteries might need to be replaced.

Installing/Replacing

Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote and take out the old batteries.

Carefully install two new AA batteries as shown in the illustration inside the battery cover.

Replace the battery cover.

This remote is designed to retain programmed memory for 10 years even after batteries are removed.

Replace Your Remote

If you have tried replacing your batteries and you are still having issues with your TWC remote control, it may be time to trade it in. Bring your old remote with you to a local TWC Store and trade it for a newer model or contact us for a replacement.
