Overview

Program your Time Warner Cable remote to control your TV using the instructions below. There are three common ways to program your TWC remote to work with your TV.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

Program your remote by displaying the code that works with your TV. This option scans through all of the codes in the remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code.

Quick Set-Up Method

Program your remote by using a one-digit code associated with popular brands..

Manual Method

Program your remote by looking up and then entering a code that corresponds with your TV brand.

Remote Pairing

Pair your remote with your Digital Adapter if you would like to place it out of sight.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

The Auto-Search Method scans through all of the codes in the TWC remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On your remote, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Point the remote control at your TV. Press and hold the OK/SELECT button.
  4. Release the OK/SELECT button when the TV turns off.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Quick Set-Up or Manual methods.

Quick Set-Up Method

The Quick Set-Up Method enables programming your TWC remote by using a one-digit code associated with popular brands.
First, find your TV brand and its corresponding one-digit code, then follow the steps below.

Follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On your remote, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Press the TV POWER button. The LED remains on.
  4. Press and hold the number button that corresponds to your TV brand.
  5. Release the number button when the TV turns off. The LED blinks twice to indicate setup was successful.
    Note: A single long blink indicates that setup was unsuccessful.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Auto-Search or Manual methods.

Manual Method

You can set up the TWC remote control by entering a code that corresponds with your device’s brand. Using the filters below, select a device and a corresponding brand to see applicable codes.
If your brand is not listed, please open the PDF version of the manual to find your code then follow the instructions below.

Find your device codes using the dropdown options above, then follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On your remote, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Point the remote at your TV and enter a code assigned to your brand. The LED blinks twice.
  4. Press the TV POWER button to test the code. If the TV turns off, setup is complete.
  5. If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 2-4 using another code.

Note: If your remote does not control your device after following the steps above, try the Quick Set-Up or Auto-Search methods.

Your TWC remote is pre-programmed to work with your Digital Adapter in IR (infrared) mode, which uses the normal “line-of-sight” signal between the remote and the adapter. If you plan to use it that way, no pairing is required.

If you want to place your adapter out of sight, you can utilize the RF option, which requires that you pair the remote to the adapter. Once paired, your remote will work with that adapter only.

  1. Point the remote at your Digital Adapter.
  2. Press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice and then press MENU. The LED will blink continuously until paired.
  3. Follow the instructions on your TV screen to complete pairing.

Volume Control

The remote’s volume controls can be set to operate your TV or your Digital Adapter.

To set volume control for the TV:

  1. On your remote, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  2. Press the VOL+ button. The LED will blink twice

To set volume control for the Digital Adapter:

  1. On your remote, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  2. Press the MUTE button. The LED will blink four times.

 

Commonly Used Buttons

Understanding the buttons on your Digital Adapter remote is essential to unlocking its full potential.
 
DTA POWER turns the Digital Adapter on or off.
 
TV POWER turns your television on or off.
 
MENU opens the Digital Adapter's menu, allowing you to access language, settings and closed captioning options.
 
INFO displays information about the program you are watching or a selected program in the Guide.
 
LAST returns the Digital Adapter to the channel you were viewing previously.
 
PROG is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.
 
SELECT, OK or ENTER selects a highlighted program or menu item.
 
GUIDE displays the program guide on your TV screen.
 
SETUP is used for programming and pairing of the Digital Adapter.

Buttons may vary by remote brand and model. Some Digital Adapter remote buttons might not have any functionality.
 

Batteries

If your TWC remote begins to malfunction, your batteries might need to be replaced.

Installing/Replacing
  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote and take out the old batteries.
  2. Carefully install two new AA batteries to match the + and – marks inside the battery cover.
  3. Replace the battery cover.

Low-Battery Warning
When the batteries are low, the device LED will blink five times each time a button is pressed.

  

Replace Your Remote

If you have tried replacing your batteries and you are still having issues with your TWC remote control, it may be time to trade it in. Bring your old remote with you to a local TWC Store and trade it for a newer model or contact us for a replacement.
